Our Future Women in Leadership visit Lancôme
On Thursday 30th June, our Year 12 girls visited Lancôme for the prestigious ‘Women in Leadership’ day in partnership with the National Literacy Trust.
Our students had the fantastic opportunity to meet with women working in the beauty industry within a variety of careers, from marketing to legal, from finance to content management.
It was fantastic to see our students’ aspirations broaden as they uncovered new types of careers that they had not previously thought of, inspiring some to consider beauty as a future career path!
After a short journey to the Lancôme Headquarters, Hammersmith, students were greeted with a plethora of Oreo cupcakes and orange juices (for some, this really sweetened the deal!), of which our students were astonished to see some of the perks of working in an office.
We were met by some absolutely lovely staff who really wanted to take the time to greet and speak with our students about future careers paths. Following an introductory welcome speech from Lancôme and NLT, we set loose within the L’Oréal building to explore the variety of brands they represent and the plethora of jobs in operation – students were particularly impressed with the enormous display items of Elvive shampoo and NYX lipstick!
Following a delicious lunch, our students were involved in a careers speed dating event with all of the staff members (pictured), where they had the chance to meet with more representatives and work on their soft skills by asking questions about how to get into the industry and ask for advice from the wealth of experience available.
The day finished with a phenomenal workshop from esteemed poet Sophia Thakur, where students were asked to write poetry and letters to themselves highlighting the elements that they love the most – a fantastic opportunity to work on body positivity and vital literacy skills necessary when thinking about their future careers.
We all absolutely loved the day and were sad to see it finish!
