Dear HABE I had the privilege to referee your u18 boy's team v Tunbridge Wells Grammar. Although the HABE team were beaten the way they conducted themselves deserves praise & recognition. You should be proud of the young men who represented their school today. # Referee

Parent feedback on our Carol Concert I was hugely impressed with the quality of the performances at the HABE concert last night. The concert band were excellent by any measure - first class. The Yr7 choir, chamber choir and soloists were also incredible as was the Year 7 choir.

Curriculum intent

Computing and ICT will prepare students for the 21st century world beyond education as information technology now permeates almost all aspects of daily life. By studying computing and ICT our students will develop their creativity and innovation through the virtual universe by designing computer code to solve problems and developing algorithms through the identification of suitable variables and structures.

For further details of the Computing and ICT curriculum please see the documents at the bottom of the page or contact Mr. C. Grant.

The purpose of the Computing and ICT curriculum at both Key stage 4 and 5 is to enable students to explore the principles of digital technology through a way of working called ‘computational thinking’. This, in turn enables students to become critical, analytical thinkers and problem-solvers; all skills which can be transferred to other subjects and  applied in day-to-day life.

Our curriculum enriches students’ knowledge and understanding of the emerging world of virtual and augmented reality, the internet and robotics. Whilst equipping students to become skilful programmers, software engineers and project managers, we are providing our students with the skills and techniques that are highly sought after in all types of industry.

Additionally, the curriculum nurtures the development of students' digital literacy. This enables them to express themselves and develop their ideas through information and communication technology safely and at a level suitable for the future workplace as active participants in a digital world. This is furthered by our enrichment clubs in electronics, programming and web design enabling students to create a smarter world.

Driving the curriculum design is the Academy learning ethos of the 4 Rs; resilience, reciprocity, reflectiveness and resourcefulness which are not only vital characteristics and skills for life but are essential for what is takes to be successful in our ever-evolving digital world.
