Symphonic Rock Rocks!
On the evening of May 1st a selection of eager HABE music students attended the Royal Albert Hall to enjoy the Symphonic Rock concert performed by the internationally renowned Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Royal Albert Hall itself is an iconic building in London, which was opened by Queen Victoria in 1871 and holds one of the largest organs in England boasting 9,999 pipes.
The orchestra transformed well-known rock songs such as Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’, Bon Jovi’s ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’, Michael Jackson’s immortal ‘Thriller’ concluding with ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ by Queen. As the music consumed the vast hall, a magnificent light show danced around its beautiful architecture making the whole experience a feast for the eyes and ears.
I very much enjoyed watching the conductor and the fascinating way he controlled and led the orchestra’s performance.
Both students and staff thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining and engaging night out and one student commented ‘it was the best thing he had ever seen’.
Thank you Ms Magee and Ms Asio from our music department for organising such a lovely evening which made such iconic tunes enjoyable and accessible to all ages!
