Outstanding Ballroom in Blackpool
Over the weekend I danced at the world famous Winter Gardens in Blackpool for the 3rd year running. It is the 'UKA National Ballroom and Latin Competition' where people from all over the UK and even some from Spain and Ireland come to compete. It is the highlight of our dance calendar.
I dance with JJ Dance Studios in Beckenham and around 60 of us, including families, made the trip to Blackpool. Unfortunately in the lead up to the completion I broke my arm and had it in plaster for two weeks, which made training difficult, but luckily I had it removed just in time to compete and to be able use both arms!
In the Latin I danced the Samba but was disappointed not to make the finals, although I was happy with how I danced. In Ballroom I danced two grades up at 'bars and laurels' level dancing the Foxtrot and a Tango. I made it through the heats and placed 6th in the final overall which I was very proud of.
I had a great time and can not wait to compete again next year.
