The Young Development League Finals
As some of you already know, I travelled with my team Blackheath and Bromley Harriers to Birmingham for a very important athletics competition. The Young Development League Finals. This would determine how well we were doing against other teams across the country.
It was a five hour journey there and back. I was competing in one event, Shot Put. If you want the easy description it is basically throwing a metal ball, as far as you can. It is not as easy as it sounds and my age group (under 13's) throw with a 2.72kg put. My P.B. (personal best) was 6.37m, but by using a different technique, my P.B. now stands at 7.19m. I know I'm capable of throwing further and hope to do so at Erith, for the Kent masters championships.
Overall, in Birmingham, we just missed out on first place by nine points however, we beat last years winners, Southampton, who came fourth this year. Last year we were closer to first place than ever, being one point away. W
stayed all day cheering each other on and travelled back together on the coach. Although second place may seem repetitive, we are not going to give up on GOLD...
