Surrey Storm vs Manchester Thunder
On the 16th of April we lucky enough to have the chance to see Surrey Storm play in the Super League against Manchester Thunder. We met at the Academy at 4:00pm excited in the hope of a home win. When we arrived at Surrey University Sports Centre full of excitement, our stomachs were rumbling so we had a light meal and drink before we made our way to our seats with fifteen minutes to go before the match began. We were able to watch the intense warm up both teams have to do to prepare for such a big game.
The players took their positions and were eager to play. Throughout the first quarter, the scores were even and no one took an early lead. About half way through the second quarter, Manchester Thunder had a three goal lead, however Storm were not finished and they brought it back to an even score. We were all hoping for Storm to take the lead, however Thunder were able to branch away with a six goal lead. The fourth quarter started and the gap did not get bigger for the first few minutes, however as Storm were starting to let their heads drop, the gap expanded to a nine goal lead. The final score was 55-64 to Thunder.
Although Storm lost, we were happy to have had the chance to see netball being played at such a high level. Fortunately for us, we were able to meet some of the Storm players and get their autographs and pictures with them. We would like to say a big thank you to Miss Halliday and Miss Blake for giving us an experience like no other.
