Bon Voyage! - our HABE students certainly did!
We travelled to France on a coach and ferry, the sea was quite rough so we were swaying around on the journey.
In France we went to see a French baker. He showed us how to make bread in a massive machine that made the bread dough. He also showed us a machine which turned squares of dough into different shapes, for example, a triangle shape was rolled into a crescent shaped croissant and this was made with margarine. The long shaped one, however, is made with butter.
We visited a goat farm, where a farmer kept cows as well as goats. He showed us how he makes goats cheese by mixing the goats milk with an enzyme called rennet to create the cheese.
We went to the beach and spoke in French to buy our ice creams. When we were at the beach I found three crabs and a jelly fish.
We also visited a chocolate factory where we were shown different types of chocolate and the different shaped moulds used to shape the chocolate. We were lucky enough to be given some free samples to try, which tasted very good. This encouraged us to buy some more!
The food in France was extremely good, in the morning we had croissants or pain au chocolat for breakfast. For lunch we had sandwiches (I had ham and cheese) and for dinner we had lots of different French foods with soup, vegetables and bread.
On the last day we visited a hypermarket with lots of shops. There was one shop which was massive which sold almost everything you would want!
Words I learnt in France: chèvre (goat), glace (ice-cream), deux boules (two scoops) and le marché (market).
