Academy Admissions

Welcome to the Harris Academy Beckenham admissions information page. Our full policy, with details of our admissions criteria, can be downloaded from the bottom of the page.

Admissions contacts

For new admissions and in year admissions please contact Admissions at admissions@harrisbeckenham.org.uk or 0208 650 8694.

For entry in September 2026

Applications from boys and girls will be welcome from the start of the autumn term. If you are interested in a place, you should name the Academy on the Common Application Form (CAF) supplied to you by your Local Authority. For applications in 2026-27 our PAN is 180.

For any queries regarding new admissions please email admissions@harrisbeckenham.org.uk.

Key dates

Common Application Form: You must apply for a secondary school place for your child to start Year 7 at secondary school when your child is in Year 6 at primary/junior school.

  • Applications for Year 7 places in September 2026 open on 1 September 2025.
  • The national closing date for applications is 31 October 2025.
  • The national offer date for on-time secondary applications is 2 March 2026.

If you are a Bromley resident, you need to make your application through London Borough of Bromley. You can name schools outside of Bromley on your application if you wish.

If your child is currently at an independent school or a school outside Bromley and wish to apply for a maintained secondary school, you must apply in the same way.

If you live outside of Bromley, you need to apply through the local authority where you live and can name Bromley schools on that application if you wish.

We will then be notified of your application and invite prospective Year 6 students for our banding test day.

Determined Banding Test Supplementary Information Form deadline: 31st October 2025.

Please complete this form ONLY if you would like your child to be considered for any concessions during the Year 6 banding test. Concessions relate to issues that you feel would need to be taken into consideration when he/she takes the Year 6 banding test. (e.g. epilepsy, hearing problems, sight conditions, problems with reading or writing, including dyslexia, mobility etc)

Please return your completed Supplementary Information Form directly to Harris Academy Beckenham. The SEN Coordinator will then make the decision as to the appropriate concession required (e.g. wheelchair access, scribes, larger print etc). NB: completion of a Supplementary Information Form does not constitute an application to the Academy and is only used for the purpose of the Year 6 banding test. You must complete the Local Education Authority Common Application Form as well.

Year 6 Banding Test Date: 12th December 2025.

We use banding tests to ensure we're admitting pupils with a wide range of academic abilities.

For parents/carers who wish to appeal

Parent(s) wishing to appeal against the Academy’s decision should complete an Appeal Form stating the reason for the appeal based on the published Admissions Criteria.

Completed forms should be sent for the attention of Clerk to the Appeal Panel, Harris Academy Beckenham, Manor Way, Beckenham, Kent, BR3 3SJ.  The closing date for appeals is Monday1 3th April 2026 at 4pm.

Appeals lodged after these dates will be heard within 40 school days of the appeal deadline or 30 school days of being lodged, whichever is the later date.

Appellants will be sent notification of their appeal hearing at least 10 clear school days in advance of the hearing.

Appellants will be sent a copy of the school's case at least seven clear working days in advance of the hearing.

If an appellant wishes to submit further evidence, which was not included with their initial appeal, they should ensure this is received at least seven clear working days (not counting the day of postage or the hearing) in advance of your appeal.

Only a short document, such as a doctor’s letter not previously available, will be accepted up to five clear working days prior to the hearing.  Any additional evidence or information received after this deadline will not be circulated and may not be considered at the hearing.

Appeals will be heard in two stages between Tuesday 5th May 2026 until Friday 8th May 2026. The appeals will be heard in private by an Independent Appeal Panel. The Clerk to the Appeal Panel will make an appointment within a reasonable time. Please note that:

  • Appeals may be made in English or the parents’/carers’ first language.
  • Only one appeal per application is allowed.
  • Appeals are currently conducted online, and you may bring a friend to this meeting.
