Students Jet off to Malta for the First Ever HABE Sports Tour!
On Saturday 30th May we set off on the first ever co-sports tour of Football and Netball in eager anticipation of enjoying competitive sporting opportunities in the Maltese sun!
The 17 boys and 7 girls went off to their respective training resorts each morning for intense training. We had the special privilege of being coached by a professional Netball player who represents Team Northumbria in the Super League and an ex- professional footballer from the Scottish Premier League.
Each afternoon after training both squads re-grouped for down time activities which included a thrilling water park, 10-pin bowling and a visit to the beach. As the sun cooled, the evenings were reserved for fixtures. This was the most important and exciting segment of the tour, as our 24 students represented Harris Beckenham against international Maltese opposition! Although the results did not go our way, the performances from both the footballers and netballers were outstanding and earned applause from both the opposition and the coaches.
Miss Halliday and myself were incredibly proud and are already planning for next year’s sports tour!
