English Schools National Diving Competition
Earlier in December I trialled to represent the London Team at a National Schools Diving competition to be held at the Aquatics Centre in Olympic Park. I won the trial and gained a place on the Junior Girls team (years 7 and 8).
I was really excited to represent my school and the London team as we got to compete at the Olympic pool, stay in a hotel and receive team kit.
The competition was on 13th December there were 10 events from Primary to Senior with 120 divers representing 8 National regions which included some Elite and GB divers.
My event was first, I had to compete 5 dives on the 1m springboard. My first 3 went okay but not my best, the scoring was tough. On my 4th dive I made a small mistake and got a failed dive, I was devastated but I had to pull myself back together for my final dive. I smashed it but unfortunately I was down in the rankings.
After all the events, the London Team had received the most points and we won the Team Trophy making us National Champions. It was an amazing event to be part of and to dive at such a high level has given me valuable experience.
I would like to thank Ms Hickey and Harris Academy Beckenham for supporting me.
