The Harris Federation Cup Final - The Result!
After a dominant 6-0 win in the semi-finals of the Harris Cup against Chobham, including an excellent hatrick from Kayne Black, we had finally made it to a final.
The stage for the final was a sunny yet blustery day at Wyhteleafe FC’s small but excellent ground. Spirits and confidence were high amongst the team. It was an exceptional final, with both teams playing excellent, fast flowing football which was praised by both sets of supporters and neutral’s alik; a credit to the competition.
Unfortunately the result however did not go our way this year, with the final score 2-0 to Harris Chafford Hundred. Our team showed great resilience and fought until the very end, but however hard we tried it seemed we were destined not to score on the day, with Kayne Black and Nathan Lewer-Smith coming closest. Other highlights included an almost impossible save made by Chino Nicely and an outstanding Man of the Match performance from Tomas Cadete.
It is said that you sometimes learn more in defeat than you do in victory, and much as we would have loved to have won, we will take the experience and build on it in next year’s cup campaigns.
